This event talks about the personal experiences of our guest speaker and how she has managed a tech career as a woman and a person of colour.
Susan Romeo-Gilbert, Educator, Independent Management Information Systems Consultant and Women-In-Technology Career Coach
Susan has over 26 years of experience in the IT Industry, including a variety of industrial sectors including Telecommunications, Utilities, Oil and Gas, Finance, Banking and Education having worked in Canada, USA, UK and the Caribbean.
Currently she is an instructor at Capilano University, Faculty of Business, teaching Business Information Systems Management and Project Management. She spent 2 years at the University of the West Indies- Continuing Education and 3.5 years working full time at University College London, England. Susan re-entered the Higher Education Sector in 2011 as a visiting Lecturer at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University.
She was previously a Principal Platform Strategist with Microsoft Canada. She also undertook Business and Technical Management, Subject matter Expert (SME) and Lead roles for several GIS, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Architecture and Data Warehousing projects.

Within 2 years of starting her career in England, Louise’s powers over team dysfunction were recognized and she quickly ascended the ranks through leadership and management roles. By age 30, she had completely transformed her flailing department of 60 people and saved her company $6M. She now applies her passion for leadership, coaching, and teaching in her company Louise Lee Coaching and Consulting to help companies save millions of dollars by transforming dysfunctional teams.
She’s taught and coached professionals and creatives in project management, leadership, and team-working skills for over a decade. Having 15+ years of leadership and collaboration experience through corporate business work, director-level positions, and her orchestral and ensemble playing as a professional violinist, she’s in a unique position to help you realize your potential to manage and lead from your heart as well as your head, and to get the most for you in the areas that matter to you.

Louise Lee, Leadership &Success Coach Louise has over 20 years of leadership and collaboration experience through corporate work across a vast cross section of industries from finance to health & fitness to digital design & animation. During her 7.5 year tenure with the Vancouver Film School, she won regular awards for Best Instructor and Outstanding Achievement. She has spent time over the last 10 years teaching, mentoring, and coaching teams in project management, management consulting, and team work skills and is certified with Erikson International. When she’s not working with open-minded and engaged people, she plays and performs around the world as a professional violinist.
